City of Rockford renames department

ROCKFORD — The City of Rockford Human Services Department is now known as the Health and Human Services Department.

“The addition of health to the official name of the City’s Human Services Department is a recognition of our intention to effectively address the social determinants of health in our community,” Health and Human Services Director Anqunette Parham said in a release. “The existing work of the department addresses the five key areas of social determinants of health including economic stability, education, social and community context, health and healthcare, and neighborhood and the built environment.”

The Health and Human Services Department is a Community Action Agency of Winnebago and Boone Counties, tasked with providing services that respond to poverty and providing poverty mitigation programs.

“We will engage in this work with a lens toward equity and an understanding that our efforts can and will help improve the overall health outcomes of our community at-large,” Parham said.

The Health and Human Services Department is at 612 N. Church St.
