Jury reaches verdict in Derek Chauvin trial, will be read Tuesday afternoon
MINNEAPOLIS — A jury reached a verdict at the murder trial of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd.
The verdict is to be read late Tuesday afternoon.
Floyd was died while he being arrested for allegedly attempting to pass a phony bill at a bodega and was handcuffed when Chauvin knelt on his neck and back, pinning the 45-year-old to the pavement for about 9 1/2 minutes as onlookers shot video and pleaded with officers to check his pulse.
The verdict is expected between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
