Rockford man guilty of wife’s beating death

ROCKFORD — John Carlos Boose was convicted of first-degree murder Friday in the 2015 beating death of his wife.

Boose, 51, was found guilty after a jury trial in front of Judge Randy Wilt.

On Jan. 31, 2015, the Rockford Police Department began investigating a report that a child witnessed Boose beat 46-year-old Regina Boose with his fists and a broom handle at their home in the 2200 block of Van Wie Avenue two days earlier.

The child testified that Regina attempted to get away and ran into the chid’s bedroom, where the beating continued.

“In testifying, the child witness demonstrated remarkable courage,” Assistant State’s Attorney Alison Meason said.

Regina Boose died from blunt force trauma.

The case is set for a 10 a.m. virtual hearing April 27 in Courtroom 478 of the Winnebago County Courthouse. Sentencing is pending.

The case was investigated by the Rockford Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Alison Meason and Alex Ronning.
