Norell loaned to Swedish Hockey League

ROCKFORD – The American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs announced this week that defenseman Robin Norell has been loaned by the Chicago Blackhawks to Djurgården IF of the Swedish Hockey League for the 2018-19 season.

Norell, 23, spent his second straight campaign with the IceHogs in 2017-18, logging two goals, five assists and a career-high 39 penalty minutes in 63 games. He skated as both a forward and defenseman during the season and fired a career-best 59 shots on goal with the Hogs. Norell also posted a season-high four-game point streak with one goal and three assists over his first four contests of December.

The Stockholm, Sweden native originally made his North American professional debut with Rockford during the 2014-15 postseason. He has since combined for 18 points (3g, 15a) and 59 PIMs over 136 career regular season games, and appeared in five Calder Cup playoff games between the 2015 and 2016 postseason.
