Rockford man charged in child sex case

ROCKFORD – A Rockford man has been charged with sexually abusing a child.

Maurice Miles, 56, is charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, allegations that stem from a follow-up investigation that began last fall.

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, the Rockford Police Department was contacted to investigate a report of sexual abuse of a juvenile. Detectives with the Sensitive Crimes Unit later developed Miles as a suspect and the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized charges.

Miles was taken into custody at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 25. He’s being held on a $100,000 bond.
