ROCKFORD – The Rock Valley College Board of Trustees, on Thursday, voted to build its future advanced technology center at the Big Thunder Mall in Belvidere.
The move ends months of speculation about where the center will be sited. Rock Valley previously agreed to build it at the shuttered Barber-Colman factory campus in southwest Rockford but pulled out of the deal it had with the city last fall. Trustees then announced they were considering the Rockford Register Star news tower.
Instead of selecting the tower, where Rock Valley already leases space, the board issued a request for proposal and narrowed its choices to Chicago Rockford International Airport, Rock Valley College campus, and the Big Thunder Mall.
Rockford Advocate will have more on this story as it develops.
