Rockford man pleads guilty to killing wife

ROCKFORD – A Rockford man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of his wife.

Noe Marquez, 52, pleaded guilty Thursday, June 18, in front of Judge Randy Wilt. He was arrested July 6, 2018, after officers with the Rockford Police Department investigated a domestic dispute in the 2700 block of Norway Pines Road and found 42-year-old Elizabeth Marquez dead from apparent stab wounds. Two juveniles were also located inside the home. They were unharmed.

Marquez was also charged with aggravated domestic battery in an incident that occurred June 28, 2018. Those charged have been dismissed.

A sentencing hearing has been set for 11 a.m., Sept. 2, in Courtroom B of the Winnebago County Courthouse. Marquez faces 20-60 years in prison.
