Rockford man charged with sexually abusing disabled person

ROCKFORD – A Rockford man is jailed, charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of an intellectually disabled person, Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces Friday.

Eric R. Hanson, 42, was taken into custody Wednesday, July 9, by the Rockford Police Department after an investigation of a sexual assault that occurred at Rockvale Children’s Home, 4450 N. Rockton Ave.

Hanson appeared in court Friday. Judge Debra Schafer set his bond at $150,000.

Aggravated criminal sexual assault to an intellectually disabled person is a Class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in prison and three years of mandatory supervised release.

Hanson is scheduled to appear in front of Judge Randy Wilt Aug. 27.
