New dates set for Rockford Citizen Police Academy

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department has announced new dates for its Fall 2020 Citizen Police Academy.

Sessions will held Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 2 at Rockford Police District 1, 1045 W. State St. The academy will conclude Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Rockford Police officers and personnel from various divisions will conduct the 10-week overview, covering departmental responsibilities, procedures and policies. Citizens will gain a better understanding of the Rockford Police Department, its partners, and the criminal justice system.

Classes include Organization, Field Service, Domestic Violence, Crime Analysis & Intel, States Attorney, Gang Unit, K9, Crime Analysis, Forensics, and you’ll tour the Coroner’s Office and 911 Center. Interested citizens must be 18 or older to participate. There is no charge for this academy. Masks will be required.
