ROCKFORD — A Rockford man is charged with attempted first-degree murder after police say he and his parents attacked a family member of the man who killed his sister two years ago.
Police say the incident unfolded Friday, July 17, in the 4800 block of Woodridge Court. That’s where Michael Feldberg, 20, of Rockford, allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old man who is related to Hand Son, who killed Danielle Son and Sergio Quiroz in 2018. Rockford residents Jonathan and Carol Feldberg, both 47, also face charges.
Police say the victim was attacked after a court hearing, in which Hand Son’s brother, Hsa Htoo, was sentenced to two years in prison for his role in the 2018 homicides.
As the victim arrived home just after 5 p.m., police say a vehicle occupied by the Feldbergs pulled behind his and blocked his driveway. Shortly afterwards, Michel Feldberg allegedly slashed the victim’s tires before reaching through the driver’s side window and stabbing him multiple times. Jonathan Feldberg entered through the passenger side and punched the man, police said.
The victim was treated at a local hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.
Michael and Jonathan Feldberg turned themselves in Friday night.
Michel Feldberg is charged with attempted first-degree murder, unlawful vehicular invasion and aggravated battery. Charges of unlawful vehicular invasion, unlawful restraint aggravated battery and robbery have been filed against Jonathan Feldberg.
A warrant has been issued for Carol Feldberg’s arrest. She’s wanted on charges of robbery and mob action.
Michael Feldberg’s bond is set at $50,000. Jonathan Feldberg is being held on a $10,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 27.
It is unclear what sparked the alleged attack. However, police are investigating whether social media comments may have contributed to it.
Hsa Htoo, 29, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to concealment of a homicidal death. After Hand Son fatally shot Danielle Son, his estranged wife; and Sergio Quiroz, her boyfriend; Htoo helped him load the bodies into the trunk of Son’s car.
The bodies were found at Blackhawk Park Feb. 22, 2018. Hand Son was also located at the park. He was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and died at a local hospital.
Son’s mother and two sisters were also charged in connection with the deaths of Danielle Son and Quiroz. Prosecutors allege that the women obstructed justice by giving police false information.
