Man charged with attempted murder in domestic violence case

ROCKFORD — Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announces that a grand jury has returned an indictment against 26-year-old Jordan Zobal for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery.

Aug. 11, officers with Rockford City Police Department were dispatched to Javon Bea Hospital in reference to what was later determined to be a domestic battery. Zobal was developed as a suspect.

Attempted first-degree murder is a Class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by three years of mandatory supervised release.

Aggravated domestic battery is a Class 2 felony with a sentence range of three to 14 years behind bars.

Zobal is due in court Sept. 30.
