Free COVID-19 testing site open in Belvidere

BELVIDERE — The State of Illinois Department of Public Health and the Boone County Health Department will be sponsoring a free temporary drive-through and walk-up COVID-19 testing site in the Boone County Administrative Campus parking lot, 1212 Logan Ave.

The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following days:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 9
  • Saturday, Sept. 12
  • Sunday, Sept. 13

Tests are free. Anyone can be tested. The test consists of a simple nasal swab. Those with in insurance are asked to bring their insurance card. Those without coverage will still be tested. Results are expected between four and seven days.

“Accessible, timely testing is critical to reduce transmission of the virus and protect the community and we are pleased to be bringing testing capacity to Boone County,” said Public Health Administrator Amanda Mehl said. “Please take advantage of this opportunity to get tested right here: it’s fast, free and you don’t need insurance.”
