Rockford recycling pickup suspended for two weeks

ROCKFORD — Rock River Disposal will suspend its recycling pickup in the city of Rockford for the next two weeks because of illness and quarantine that has led to low staffing levels.

The suspension will begin Oct. 19. Rock River Disposal will reevaluate its staff the week of Nov. 2.

Until then, recycling that is placed at the curb will be picked up and disposed of with garbage collection. Yard waste will continue weekly.

“The City of Rockford has worked with RRD to support their mitigation efforts and help control the spread of COVID-19 within their staff while having the least impact on our residents,” the city said in a release.
