Rockford school board member Anthony Dixon resigns

ROCKFORD — Rockford Public School District 205 board member Anthony Dixon submitted his resignation effective Saturday, Oct. 31.

Dixon shared his letter with board and administration Tuesday, Oct. 27. He has represented Subdistrict A since April 2017.

Those interested in filling Dixon’s seat must apply by Nov. 20. Interviews will be conducted on that day during a special school board meeting. The new Subdistict A representative will sworn in Dec. 8 and serve the remainder of Dixon’s term, which expires in April 2021. That person would then need to run again  to retain the seat.

If the board does not appoint a replacement Regional Superintendent Scott Bloomquist will have 30 days to appoint someone to the board.

Applicants must be at least 18, reside in Subdistrict A, and be a registered voter. Applicants must also be a resident of the State of Illinois and Rockford Public Schools for one year immediately preceding date of appointment.
