Shooting victim dies, marks Rockford’s 27th homicide
ROCKFORD — A 20-year-old man who was shot Saturday on the city’s west side has died.
Just before midnight, Oct. 31, Rockford officers responded to the Concord Commons housing complex in the 200 block of Cameron Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a local hospital and died Monday, Nov. 2.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office pending notification of his family.
The incident marks the cit’s 27th homicide of the year. That’s the most since 1996, when Rockford saw 31 killings.
