City of Rockford, RACVB announce holiday decoration contest

ROCKFORD — The City of Rockford and the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau are encouraging residents of the region to decorate their homes and yards this holiday season for a chance to win $250.

“Whether you’re into Griswold-style light displays or you keep it simple like Charlie Brown – whether your decorations are made by Mother Nature or you’re a creative crafter who turns trash into treasures – we hope you’ll join the movement to #Decorate815,” a City Hall release said.

Participants are encouraged to post photo of their outdoor décor to Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter using the hashtag #Decorate815. Each photo will be entered into a drawing to win the case prize.

The city is reminding residents that if social media audience is set to “friends” or if an account is private, officials will not see contest photos. Post must be viewable by the public.

Photos must be posted by noon on Monday, Dec. 14.

The contest is co-sponsored by the City of Rockford, the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and ComEd.
