Nicholas Conservatory’s Eclipse Lagoon open for ice skating

ROCKFORD — Eclipse Lagoon, on the campus of Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, 1354 N. Second St., is open for ice skating.

As of Friday, January 22, 2021, the community is welcome to enjoy free skating or open hockey from 9 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., weather permitting, and when conditions are safe. Skate rental is available on select dates. The first opportunity to rent skates is Friday Jan. 22, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Heated restrooms are available at the outdoor pavilion. A winter light display will also be found around the lagoon. The campus is highly visible and heavily utilized even during the winter months by those walking, running, and biking along the Rock River Recreation Path. The winter light display will remain up through the end of February, and will add to the experience of skating outdoors.

More information about skating conditions is available at the Rockford Park District website, by calling 815-987-8858, or visiting Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens on Facebook.
