Rockford man charged with possession of child pornography

ROCKFORD — A 65-year-old man was arrested and charged with possessing child pornography on his computer.

On Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, Rockford officers were contacted to investigate a report that man was in possession of pornographic images of children. The Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation identified Robert Heaslip, a registered sex offender from Rockford, as a suspect.

Warrants were obtained for Heaslip’s arrest and he was taken into custody Thursday, Feb. 18, in the 2500 block of Conklin Drive.

Heaslip is charged with possession of child pornography and failure to register as a sex offender. He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail. Bail is set at $50,000. Heaslip was given a Feb. 19 court date.
