Fourth man charged in death of Rockford rapper
ROCKFORD — A fourth man now faces charges in the 2019 death of a Rockford rapper William Pickering.
Colton Kennicker, 22, is charged with first-degree murder. Police say he was arrested in Mesa, Arizona, Wednesday Feb. 24. He is in the process of being extradited to Winnebago County.
First-degree murder charges have also been filed against 22-year-old William Arzate and 21-year-old Dakota Graff. Graff is also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Manuel Ramirez, 22, of Rockford, pleaded guilty to one count of concealment of a homicidal death and was sentenced last month to 180 days in jail as part of a plea agreement.
Pickering, who performed under the names Billy Da Kid and EBE Bandz, was reported missing June 1, 2019. His car and dog were located at his Fisher Avenue apartment complex, indicating the possibility of foul play.
June 20, 2019, police located a crime scene in the 5200 block of Indianhead Avenue. From there, they were led to an area in unincorporated Winnebago County, where Pickering’s remains were discovered.
Pickering was reported missing after he was involved in a dispute with two people outside his residence. It is not known if the dispute is related to the homicide.
