SwedishAmerican Foundation Community Grant applications now open
ROCKFORD — The SwedishAmerican Foundation announced this week that it will award grants through its Caring for Our Community Grant Program.
The foundation will provide financial support to nonprofits, particularly those that complement the SwedishAmerican Foundation’s mission and vision. The grant application will be available Monday, March 1, through Thursday, April 15.
This opportunity is available for nonprofit entities or organizations that serve or represent the Rockford community or communities within the service area of SwedishAmerican. Projects should support alleviating homelessness, hunger and un(under)employment; improving health and wellness; expanding early childhood development; and improving offender rehabilitation/reintegration. Capital requests will not be accepted, and funding will not be awarded to further the mission work of religious organizations.
The Caring for Our Community grants are awarded every August. Last year’s grant recipients were Boys & Girls of Rockford’s Academic Success Project, Family Counseling Services of Northern Illinois’ Counseling During Troubled Times project, Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity’s Expansion of Community Partnership program, Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling’s Medical Advocacy program, Rockford Barbell’s Youth Outreach project, and Rockford Park District Foundation’s Healthy Kids are Happy Kids program.
“We are honored to continue this tradition of support to our local nonprofits that are making a difference in the Rockford community each and every day,” said SwedishAmerican Foundation Director Laura Wilkinson.
All grants must be submitted to the SwedishAmerican Foundation electronically at Foundation@swedishamerican.org by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 in order to be considered. The guidelines and application can be found at the SwedishAmerican Foundation website.
