High school football: East, Guilford clash Thursday in key NIC-10 matchup
ROCKFORD — The Guilford Vikings and East E-Rabs, who share Swanson Stadium, face each other Thursday in a key NIC-10 Conference B Division game.
The Vikings beat Jefferson last Friday night to improve to 2-0 on the season, while East rebounded from an opening week loss to Boylan to crush Belvidere.
Because of the coronavirus, the NIC-10 has been split into two divisions with the winners of each playing each other in week six for the conference championship.
Guilford is 2-0 in Division B with Freeport and East at 1-1.
Thursday’s matchup isn’t expected to be one that features a lot of passes. East and Guilford, combined, have thrown just eight times in the first two weeks.
The teams feature the conference’s No. 1 and No. 3 rushers through the first two weeks. CJ Berry has 259 yards on 24 carries for East while Guilford’s Javarrie Reynolds has 214 yards on 41 carries. East rushed for 477 yards last week against Belvidere.
